Now it came to pass that one day I received a message which surprised me. A young man asked me if I would come and do some Bible teaching in his church in Mombasa, Kenya. Because this was so unexpected, I asked him why does he invite me to go and do Bible teaching, and this was his response to me.
In the year 2003 I was committed to the High Security prison in Mombasa. During my time there I became well acquainted with the prison chaplain, a lovely lady, who told me about the love of God and how Jesus Christ died upon a cross to bear my sin, and subsequently she led me to repent and commit my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. During the following years my New Birth experience caused a phenomenal change in my life to the extent that by the year 2008 I was taken from ‘Death Row’, and in the year 2012 was released on parole. I immediately looked up the church that the prison Chaplain was pastoring and began to attend.
During the following two years I became so excited with the change that Jesus had brought into my life that I wanted all of my previous ungodly friends to know Jesus also. This caused me to reach out and begin a new church.
That was two years ago”, he continued, “and I now realise that week after week I have been preaching ‘You must be born again’, and ‘You must be born again’. I now understand that I need to be taught the Bible so that I can teach others. “Please come to Africa and teach us how to ‘live by Faith’.”
Having received such a Macedonian call, I knew that this was the direction that God was leading me although I was already more than 70 years old.
